It starts on my birthday, so how could I resist?

So I will have the short scripts from that to post soon.Laura Deerfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06481017193764065233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30413383.post-74575840606984269612008-10-20T22:57:00.000-04:002008-10-20T22:57:00.000-04:00David - Bwaaah ha ha ha! I don’t mind slow burning thrillers, but this one didn’t even try to engage me from the start. I’m still waiting for the story to kick in.

But you like what you like. Hell, I rented Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King -- yes, it is a good movie -- after seeing Body of Lies. So it’s all good. Just hoping Scott can get his act together for "Forever War."David Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00954618022277834648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30413383.post-92209754949328886672008-10-20T19:01:00.000-04:002008-10-20T19:01:00.000-04:00PS Davind, I'm sure you'll consider me a fool for ...PS Davind, I'm sure you'll consider me a fool for it, but I loved Body of Lies. I loved the slower pace, and the moral ambiguity. I'm in agreement with James Berardinelli - "For those who care about there being more to a thriller than pointless car chases and over-edited fight sequences, Body of Lies offers a satisfying dose of truth." Felt more like a movie made in the 70sLaura Deerfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06481017193764065233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30413383.post-36016986954101459662008-10-20T18:55:00.000-04:002008-10-20T18:55:00.000-04:00Alice in Wonderland - awesome, looking forward to ...Alice in Wonderland - awesome, looking forward to it

Quantum of Solace - will rock (despite the title)

But what I keep coming back to is "Elton John Writing Songs For Ben Stiller Musical"... uh, wha? and actually reading the article doesn't help. An AIDS musical comedy? Uh.

I had to check and see whether the article was published back on April 1st.Laura Deerfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06481017193764065233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30413383.post-17619910217605599242008-10-19T13:27:00.000-04:002008-10-19T13:27:00.000-04:00Queen of Sky -- "It will feature a Bridget Jones-e...Queen of Sky -- "It will feature a Bridget Jones-esque international flight attendant whose colorful blog helps her navigate the ups and downs of her life and ultimately transforms her completely."

What’s the over-under on her being canned after the first draft? I kid. Settle down.

The death of Lethal Weapon 5 -- Yeah, I think Hollywood has raped enough of my favorite characters. So, naturally, it’s nice to see this go by the wayside. Really, Lethal Weapon has run its course. There is nothing left to explore character wise. The only sad part is we don’t get to see what Shane Black came up with.

As far as Superman is concerned, it’ll only be good once a few things happen -- Metropolis given a physical local, Superman given a real villain, the CGI toned down, the title updated to Man of Steel -- and brining Superman to our level through a character change. Again, I only believe such a change can happen if (Cover your eyes Mystery Man) Lois is severely harmed or killed. That’s the only way to get him to question his purpose and faith in mankind. It’d also be a good way to show he’s just as fallible as us. Basically, it’d give him something to overcome that isn’t physical.

And who cares about the Goonies? I have never understood what people saw in that movie.

Inglourious Basterds -- Is that an ascot around Pitts neck? Hahaha...

Also, it’s really sad that I have to look up how to spell the misspelled title correctly. What a mouthful that sentence was, huh? Damn.

Iron Man Writers Want... -- How about no?

Star Trek -- I’ll wait to see the "official trailer" before I say no. As it stands, I haven’t liked any of the casting picks. They don’t seem adequate. "Adequate" as in they don’t look like they can fill the shoes of the iconic characters they are playing.

Paramount has reduced their... -- This doesn’t surprise me. I mean, they haven’t had a hit in a long time and should think about new management. DreamWorks walked away for a reason.

Bourne Again -- Why am I not surprised? These morons just don’t get it. Characters drive stories. When the character’s story is over, it's really over! Nothing left to tell. So just stop!

Wall Street -- Again, how about no? Douglas would be smart to runaway from this. Just don’t see it overcoming the same problems of all the Iraq and War on Terror movies. People don’t care what some movie has to say about a situation they are living through. I certainly don’t.

Green Lantern Rumors -- "Maybe a focusing; maybe a ratcheting up of pace and energy. Whatever it's been, it really hasn't affected this project in the least."

What? Who would want such a thing? That’s just crazy talk.

Screenwriting Oscar -- No contest. The Nolan Bros. should get it.

Ridley Scott Takes on "Forever War" -- Didn’t he just make this movie with Leonardo DiCaprio? No? Well, okay. But it sure-as-hell felt like forever watching Body of Lies. One would think that a thriller would be, you know, thrilling. No-matter, I could go on and on about the shit that is Body of Lies. My point, maybe Scott can redeem himself now that he’s in familiar territory. Here’s hoping there won’t be a bullshit love story...or Russell Crowe.

Alice in Wonderland -- They couldn’t have picked a better person to direct this than Tim Burton. Can’t wait.

Twilight -- The trailer at the very best looks decent...and now this? It seems like they are trying to be faithful to the book and author of said book, which I get and appreciate...but, yeah...there are far better ways to let the audience know what is going on inside the main character’s head. You know what I’m talking about. No need to say it.

Quantum of Solace -- This movie is going to fucking rock despite the crappy theme song. Even if you are not a fan of the Bond franchise, it’ll still drag you in due to the great performance Craig delivers. It’s all about character...and the fact that the filmmakers have elevated the series above the typical Bond shit. Man, I can not wait to see this movie. And I want to see where they crashed those Aston Martin cars.

James Cameron -- This guy is consistent. Say what you will of his style or whatever. The man is consistent. Hit after hit. Who else can boast that?

Anyway, I expect nothing short of awesomeness when Avatar comes out.

-- David AlanDavid Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00954618022277834648noreply@blogger.com
