"It's like a painter worrying about whether his apples are sweet or sour. Who cares?"

    Lol, I wasn't expecting that.

  2. 58 minutes of excellent insight. I wonder if anyone knows how they made that "steadicam" shot in Frenzy. My guess is a tripod on some skis or something.

Hitchcock is just awesome when it comes to Dramatic Irony...

I got to sit down and have like a days worth of just watching Hitchcock movies...

  4. Carlo - But that's a point well taken, isn't it? It's not WHAT the artist is painting that matters so much as HOW the artist makes you FEEL about whatever it is that's being painted that really matters. I wholly agree. It's all about style, baby! It also brings to mind something Ebert would say periodically - It's not what it's about but HOW it's about it. He probably stole it from Hitchcock.

Christain - I watched Frenzy last night. That shot really is amazing, although, I would've liked to have seen a brief payoff of some kind in the upstairs window. Not crazy about the writing of that film. Bad first act with horrible handling of exposition, I must say.

  5. gabbagoo - I've been watching about one Hitch a day! Wonderful, isn't it? God, I love films.

I have a lot to say. This'll be a lot of fun.

Yeah I definitely agree. I just found it funny hearing him say "... Who cares?!"
I thought he was going to say something sophisticated. :P
